  • Powerful Steps

    Powerful steps. Prancing around me.

Circling in goodness, grace and beauty undue.

Waterfall of wisdom. You cascade on my soul.

Stitches of care. You remake me. I’m whole.

Like a trumpet of brass, I sound with delight.

Shining in gratitude atop a hill at night.

With blackness around me, I feel light inside my heart.

I see it in the distance. It calls—and hits me like a dart.

The pain is only for a moment. It makes me stronger.

Overcoming creates utmost splendor. Reinvigorates me longer.

Every step a wincing pain.  Every breath a deep anguish.

You speak over me, Dear Child, out of the pain fears vanquish.

God, I cry, how does sorrow create resilience?

How does hardship release your brilliance?

Daughter of Mine, stop questioning my ways.

Sweet Flower, forget your fear and fall down amazed.

I will bless you. I have given you, child, tenfold.

You are genuine. You’ve never been fool’s gold.

Chase after the hem of my robe, little one.

Dance in its trail reflecting the midday sun.

Make use of your time. You are shining my name to the earth.

Bless me in public. To others, I’ll  display your utmost worth.

    Genesis 1:3-5

And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.
